The Islamabad Capital Territory (TIC) administration has established around 40 fair price sugar stores to ensure the sale of products at the tariffs notified by the government in the federal capital.

ISLAMABAD, November 8 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – November 8, 2021): The administration of the Capital Territory of Islamabad (ICT) has established around 40 fair-priced stores to ensure the sale of commodities at the reported rates by the government in the federal capital.

“Consumers can buy 90 rupees per kilogram available in stores set up in both rural and urban areas of the city,” Deputy Commissioner (General) Rana Waqas said.

Speaking to APP on Monday, he said, the city had a demand for 3,200 tonnes of sugar and there was sufficient stock to meet the needs of residents of Islamabad.

The merchandise was also available in Sunday bazaars for the convenience of buyers, he added.

Waqas said the Civil Administration had assembled teams, led by deputy commissioners, to take action against traders involved in selling sugar at exorbitant prices.

To a question, he said that the Ministry of Industries and Production regulated the prices of sugar and ghee while the administration of the capital city of Islamabad could only ensure its sale at controlled tariffs.

There was no sugar mill in Islamabad jurisdiction while the wholesaler’s store was inspected for hoarding, he said in response to another question.
