ACC Head Meets Egyptian Minister of Commerce on Intensification of Trade Cooperation | Business

Ammon news – The Chairman of the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC), President of the Foodstuff Traders Association (FTA) Khalil Haj Tawfiq, discussed with the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Nevin Jameh in Cairo, the mechanisms to improve Jordanian-Egyptian trade and the role of private sector institutions in this regard.
According to a statement from the ACC on Saturday, certain obstacles to the movement of goods between the two countries were mentioned, especially in the Kingdom’s exports, in addition to the possibility of launching an exhibition of Egyptian industries in Jordan and intensifying visits by trade delegations. .
Haj Tawfiq said Jordanian-Egyptian relations are “distinguished” in various fields, thanks to the “remarkable” support from the leaders of the two countries, forcing the private sector to invest in this situation to establish economic alliances which also include the Iraq, which will serve common interests and achieve Arab economic integration.
During the meeting, he said Jordanian-Egyptian trade faces many challenges, most of them administrative, which can be overcome, adding that removing barriers will help increase trade volume.
The next step, he hoped, will see a further breakthrough in the form of joint economic and trade relations, in addition to strengthening joint cooperation, expanding investments and solving the difficulties and obstacles that prevent its development.
The Kingdom’s exports to Egypt in the last 11 months of 2021 were around $ 151 million, compared to $ 482 million in imports.
