Capital records lowest single-day Covid-19 cases since October – Newspaper
ISLAMABAD: The smallest number of Covid-19 cases was reported in the capital on Friday, with 25 people testing positive.
No less than 3,337 tests have been carried out in the capital in the past 24 hours and the positivity rate has fallen to 0.7 pc. In addition, 73 people have recovered from the disease.
Officials in the capital’s administration said 23 cases were reported in a single day on October 5, 2020. There are 1,216 active cases in the capital, they said, adding that 62 patients were hospitalized, 57 under oxygen and five under ventilators.
The largest number of active cases, 101, is found at Loi Bher followed by 72 at Bhara Kahu, 59 at G-10, 55 at Tarali, 50 at G-6, 49 at I-10, 47 at I-8, 45 in G-11, 43 in G-9, 42 in Khanna, 39 in G-7, 35 in G-13, 32 in Rawat, 29 in E-11, 27 in G-8, 26 in F-11, 22 each in F-8, I-9, 21 in Chak Shahzad, 18 in Sohan, 17 each in F-10, Kurri, 15 in F-6, 13 each in Alipur, F-7, 12 in Koral, 11 in G- 15.
Likewise, there are nine cases in Chirrah, eight each in D-17, Model Town, seven each in Kirpa, Rawal Town, six each in D-12, F-5, Sihala, five each in Bari Imam, G- 14, G-5, four each in F-14, G-12, H-13, three each in H-12, Jhangi Syedan, two each in E-16, E-7, E-8, F-15, H- 11, I-12 and Tarnol, one each in B-17, E-12, E-13, E-9, F-17, H-14, H-9, F-17, H-14, H – 9, I-11, I-14, Saidpur, Shah Allah Ditta and Tumair. The addresses of 143 active cases are not known.
They said there were no patients in 33 other urban and rural areas of the capital.
One person died after battling Covid-19 in the district on Friday. As many as 17 people have been diagnosed with the disease, while 19 more are said to have been discharged from hospital in the past 24 hours.
The deceased has been identified as Azra Naheed, 62, a resident of Peshawar Road. She was brought to the Rawalpindi Urology Institute (RIU) on May 30.
In Rawalpindi district, there are 211 active patients. No less than 30 patients are hospitalized, including 24 patients who arrived from other districts and 181 patients are isolated at home. In addition, 887 patients are awaiting the results of their Covid-19 serology.
Among the new patients, 10 were from the garrison town, four from cantonment, one from the town of Potohar, five from the town of Rawal while four patients came from Gujar Khan and three from Taxila.
Four patients were admitted to Holy Family Hospital, seven to Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 12 to RIU, six to Fauji Foundation Hospital and one patient was admitted to Hearts International Hospital. Four patients are on ventilators in Rawalpindi, 16 are on oxygen and 10 are stable.
Meanwhile, district administration teams sealed two trading plazas on Friday and fined Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) violators of Rs 44,500.
