Is Morbius in the MCU?

The second trailer for Morbius has arrived, and it’s certainly sparking conversation among superhero movie fans. The trailer itself includes another photo of Michael Keaton’s character, apparently reprising his role as Adrian Toomes from Spider-Man: Homecoming. Beyond that, the trailer used two different Andrew Garfield logos. The Amazing Spider-Man franchise – the logo on the OsCorp skyscraper and the mast on a copy of the Daily Bugle. If you’re already scratching your head, that’s not all.
There’s also the moment when Michael Morbius (Jared Leto) walks past a Spider-Man poster, where the web-slinger apparently wears the same costume Tobey Maguire wore in Sam Raimi. Spider Man Franchise. Then, to top it off, Morbius himself specifically mentions Venom in the closing moments of the trailer. In a two-and-a-half-minute trailer, the film references what appear to be four separate franchises.
Because of that, it’s almost guaranteed Morbius does not take place in the correct Marvel Cinematic Universe. At first glance, we have to assume that he belongs to Sony’s Marvel Character Universe, which seems to be an amalgamation of most of the movies Sony has made before. Indeed, since Spider-Man: No Path Home is a co-production between Sony and Marvel Studios, it’s likely Sony is also using it to mix up their own multiverse, in addition to the one the group led by Kevin Feige is already working hard on.
While the multiverse is well established in the MCU, there is a possibility that Sony is using No way home have his own Secret wars moment and bring together all of their franchises under the same continuity. After all, Sony boss Sanford Panitch said everything would make a lot more sense after the trio.
“There is actually a plan,” the executive previously said. Variety. “I think now maybe it’s getting a little clearer to people where we’re headed and I think when No way home fate, even more will be revealed. First of all, it was after Spidey Threequel Sony boss Sanford Panitch said things would be much clearer for fans.
