Pakistan Weekly Market Monitor Report – June 8, 2021 – Pakistan
The weekly update of average retail prices as of June 3, 2021 shows that the prices of basic grains and non-grain foods have undergone negligible, small and significant fluctuations compared to the prices of the previous week. While year-over-year comparisons indicated slight to large price fluctuations.
Cereals: (wheat, wheat flour, Irri-6 rice and Basmati rice). Overall, the average retail price of wheat flour edged down while the price of wheat was unchanged from the previous week. In addition, the price of Basmati rice increased negligibly while the price of Irri-6 rice remained unchanged from the previous week.
Non-Grain: Overall, compared to the previous week, average retail prices for essential non-grain foods saw slight increases for Masoor pulses and eggs, as well as a negligible increase for Mash pulses. In addition, a significant drop in prices was noted for live chicken, a slight drop for Moong pulses and negligible declines for Gram pulses and sugar, while prices for cooking oil and vegetable ghee are remained unchanged from the previous week.
Terms of trade: Average ToT edged up 1.4% from the previous week, while it was down 9.5% from a year ago.
