Moscow welcomes the fact that the Sputnik V COVID-19 jab has enabled San Marino to become one of the leaders in mass immunization and addressing security concerns amid the pandemic, the minister said on Monday Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in talks with Luca Beccari, Minister of Foreign Affairs. “We are cooperating in terms of combating the pandemic. We are delighted that Sputnik V has enabled San Marino to possibly become a leader in mass immunization and in solving the safety issues associated with the infection,” said Lavrov.
The senior diplomat also noted that Russia and San Marino are planning to develop bilateral relations in the field of trade, economy, investment as well as in the humanitarian field.
As Lavrov pointed out, relations between the countries have been marked by regular consultations on a wide range of issues, including the situation on the European continent, in the Euro-Atlantic area, as well as the activities of the United Nations. . “We wish to hold these consultations on a regular basis in accordance with the memorandum on cooperation between the foreign ministries of our countries, which was signed in San Marino in March 2019,” said the senior diplomat.
“Our countries are different, however, we have the will to strengthen cooperation in areas such as the economy, the social sphere, culture and especially in the fight against COVID-19. In the pharmaceutical industry, we have found a way out of the challenging situation caused by the pandemic, and this has accelerated the development of our links in recent months ”, declared Beccari in turn.
